At Optimum Air we are environmentally conscious and believe in doing the best we can to promote energy efficiency. That is why we have dedicated this section of our website to informing our customers on how to have more efficient and environmentally friendly heating and cooling products and systems.

Tips to increase efficiency:

* Properly sizing your heating or cooling system so it operates at optimum efficiency.
* Use Energy Star rated heating and cooling products.
* Have a Heat loss assessment performed on you home, by one of our professionals so that they can make suitable recommendations on how your home can be made more efficient.

Tips to Save Energy:

* Yearly maintenance on your central a/c unit is recommended. Optimizing performance will save you money on your electrical bill.
* Change furnace filters regularly – every four to six weeks.
* In the spring and fall clear away debris and weeds from your outside condensing unit to enhance performance.
* Repair any disconnected or crushed ductwork
* During the summer you can keep your thermostat set at 78°F or 26°C. The ideal difference between the outside air and the inside air should be no more than 20°F or 7°C.
* When you are away from your home and you want to conserve enegergy you can turn off your a/c or if it is extremely warm you can set the temperatrue of you house to hold at 6-8 degrees warmer then the normal temperature of your house so that the A/C will only come on when the termperure of your house rises higher than 6-8 degrees above the normal temperature. Closing you blinds and curtains will also help to keep your house cool.
* During the summer you can open the windows at night if it is cooler outside, turn the air-conditioner off, and close the windows in the morning before the temperature rises.
* Keep doors and windows closed when you have the air-conditioning on.
* During the fall and winter you should run your furnace fan constantly if you have a two-story house, for a more consistent temperature throughout your home.
